CODES OF PRACTICE 

EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS

As a Registered Training Organisation, Life International Training Pty Ltd has adopted the Department of Education, Training and the Arts (DETA), conditions for registration which means that we operate within the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) standards for RTOs. This includes a commitment to recognise the training qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations.

Life International Training Pty Ltd maintains policies and management practices to provide the highest educational and professional standards available, to safeguard the interests and welfare of our clients.

In all face-to-face training courses, the tuition fee includes all relevant text and training materials. Course participants are required to bring a pen and notebook. Trainers use overhead projectors, videos and PowerPoint presentations where required. Our training venues are conference facilities and/or educational classrooms, or by client arrangement. Practical components of the course are conducted in rooms that allow adequate space to practice techniques.

Our computer based courses require only the applicable CD packs, the price of which is inclusive of both tuition and assessment costs. The cost of Nationally Recognised Statement(s) of Attainment are also included.


LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENTS

Simply put, besides our commitment to recognise the training qualifications issued by other Registered Training Organisations, Life International Training Pty Ltd maintains policies and management practices which embrace the highest educational and professional standards available, to safeguard the interests and welfare of our clients. In all training courses, the tuition fee includes all relevant text and training materials.

Workplace Health & Safety Act 1995
Compliance with requirements under this Act includes but is not limited to- safe working environments for staff, trainers and students, requirements for WorkCover compliancy, development and implementation of health and safety policy.

Vocational Education, Training And Employment Act 2000
Compliance with requirements under this Act includes but is not limited to Chapter 2 Training Organisations- Part 3 Registered Training Organisations- Divisions 1-5, Part 4 Accredited Courses- Divisions 1 & 2, and recognition of Chapters 5, 7, 8 and 9.

Vocational Education, Training And Employment Regulation 2000
Compliance with requirements under this Regulation includes but is not limited to Parts 2, 4 and 6.

Federal Privacy Act 1988 As Amended
Compliance with requirements under this Act includes but is not limited to Information Privacy Principles 1-11, and National Privacy Principles 1-10 from the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000.

Copyright Act 1968
Where works produced by third parties are utilised by LIT, LIT will adhere to all relevant sections of the Act and any other conditions as outlined in contracts, MOUs, or Letters of Agreement.

Anti Discrimination Act 1991
Compliance with requirements under this Act includes but is not limited to Parts 2, 3, and with particular detail to Part 4- divisions 2, 3, and 4.

Health Regulations 1996
Compliance with this regulation has particular relevance within all sections related to hygiene.
 
Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines
All First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation training delivered follows the clinical guidelines as set out by ARC where applicable.

We value and encourage feedback from trainees, staff and employers to gain productive criticism and will readily incorporate any improvements gained into future programs.


CLIENT SERVICE

Life International Training Pty Ltd utilises sound management practices to ensure effective client service. Our service standards ensure the timely issue of trainee assessment results and qualifications. These are appropriate to the competence achieved and are issued in accordance with national guidelines. Our quality focus includes Recognition of Prior Learning Policy, a fair and equitable Refund Policy, a Grievance and Appeals Policy, an Access and Equity Policy and student welfare and guidance services.


REFUND POLICY

Life International Training Pty Ltd will give a 100% refund of all monies paid prior to course commencement, provided written confirmation of cancellation is received 14 days or more prior to course commencement. A 75% refund is payable 13 to 7 days prior to course commencement.

No monies are refundable for cancellations up to 6 days prior to the course however a pro rata credit is available. If a trainee withdraws during a course, no refund is payable but a pro rata credit ("raincheck"), is made available for that trainee(s) to complete a similar course at a later date. Pro rata credits are valid for a period of 6 months from issue date.

All pre-paid monies are placed into a Life International Training Pty Ltd account, which funds are held in abeyance until course completion to cover any refunds which may fall payable.

Should Life International Training Pty Ltd cancel a course at any time, all participants are entitled to either a full refund or transfer of funds to a future course, as mutually agreed.


RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) POLICY

Life International Training Pty Ltd's Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy allows for previously attained skills or knowledge to be recognised.

Trainees may apply for exemptions from modules where they can adequately demonstrate they possess the skills or knowledge required. These skills or knowledge may have been attained through previous courses, or through life experience.

Applications for RPL are to be made to your course trainer or through Life International Training Pty Ltd's head office using RPL Application Appendix C. Documentary evidence of each unit you are seeking RPL for must be provided. To assist you in the evidence required, LIT will provide you with a copy of the Performance Criteria for each of the modules for which you are seeking exemption. Evidence will be assessed by the trainer, or a panel established by Life International Training Pty Ltd, once the application fee is paid.

If you are successful you will not need to undertake the units for which you have received exemptions. You will not receive a grading for the exempted units, but will be recognised as having completed these units. In the event that you are unsuccessful you may lodge an appeal with our appeal panel or the Director of Life International Training Pty Ltd.

The fees for seeking RPL are $40 application fee, and a fee of $40/hour of assessor time.


ADMISSION

Public enrolment is finalised upon receipt of payment lodged at the course or Life International Training head office. Where fees are charged for a trainee under 18 years of age parent/guardian acknowledgment of enrolment will be obtained. Corporate enrolment will be confirmed upon the receipt of written confirmation from the client.

If a student is deemed to be behaving in a manner contrary to benefit of fellow students, the individual will be asked to desist in this behaviour. If the student fails to comply, they may be removed from the course, with no refund payable.


ASSESSMENT
 
Assessment will take the form of practical and theoretical components, both conducted fairly and without bias. Assessment will assess directly the skills and underpinning knowledge required to be deemed competent in the chosen course. The majority of assessment will occur "in class" for face-to-face courses. Self-paced assessment will occur when completing flexible learning packages and students are notified of their requirements to achieve competency.
 
Online Student Support
  •  Students who are undertaking training using the First Aid Now package will have the following g support vailable.
  • Phone support - is available 24/7 by calling our 1300 number.
  • Technical support is also available from Launchpad Multi Media during office hours.
  • Email support - is available 08.00am to 17.00pm EST weekdays.

Online Student Assessment
Upon receipt of FAN results, the results are checked by a qualified Life International Training Assessor.

AWARD/CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of assessment, the student will receive a Statement of Attainment for the course completed, as well as any other certification associated with the courses, within 21 days of the date the student is deemed competent.


GRIEVANCES AND APPEALS

Life International Training Pty Ltd ensures that trainees and clients have access to fair and equitable process for dealing with grievances and provides an avenue for trainees to appeal against decisions, which affect the trainees' progress. Every effort is made by our organisation to resolve trainees'/clients' grievances.

Participants who feel they have a genuine grievance have a right to a fair hearing at which they may state their concerns.

Grievance Process

The Training Manager has responsibility for maintaining and managing the grievance system and process.

Trainees/clients who feel they have a genuine complaint have the right to a fair hearing at which they may state their concerns.

Life International Training Pty Ltd must deal with the grievance within 15 (operational) days of its being lodged.

The person receiving the notification will document all grievances. In most cases, grievances can be informally resolved however the matter will still be documented.

In response to a formal grievance the Managing Director of Life International Training Pty Ltd may:

a. Interview any people involved (eg, the candidate, the trainer, the assessor and the Area Specialist),

b. Refer the grievance to a higher level if the grievance can not be resolved internally - State Training Authority.

The candidate has the right to a support person (eg, supervisor, workmate, union delegate, etc) of their choice during the grievance process.

Grievance procedures must be accurately documented including a written version of the outcome / resolution.

The person who has a grievance must be informed:

* That the internal grievance processes of the company are to be followed first; agents;

* That they have the right to appeal to the State Training Authority (TEB), if they feel they have been dealt with unfairly by Life International Training Pty Ltd

*That the appeal to the Training and Employment Board (TEB) is the final level of appeal;

Appeals Process

The Training Manager has responsibility for maintaining and managing the appeals system and process.

The candidate has the right to request that assessors review their decision (i.e., reconsider and justify their decision).

If the candidate is still not happy with the decision, they can lodge an appeal with the Managing Director of Life International Training Pty Ltd or Delegated Representative.

The appeal must be lodged no longer than five (operational) days after the assessment.

Life International Training Pty Ltd must deal with the appeal within 15 (operational) days of its being lodged.

In response to a formal appeal the Managing Director of Life International Training Pty Ltd may:

*Interview any people involved (eg, the candidate, the assessor and the Area Specialist),

*Request another assessor to review the case,

*Schedule another assessment,

*Uphold or reject the appeal at any stage,

*Refer the appeal to a higher level - State Training Authority

The candidate has the right to be heard by an independent person or panel and have a support person (eg, supervisor, workmate, union delegate, etc) of their choice present during the appeal process. an independent person or panel.

Appeals procedures must be accurately documented at all stages including a written statement provided to the appellant outlining the outcome and the reason for any decision made.

The person appealing must be informed:

*That the internal appeals processes of the company are to be followed first;

*That the appeal to the Training and Employment Board (TEB) is the final level of appeal;
That they have the right to appeal to the State Training Authority (TEB), if they feel they have been dealt with unfairly by Life International Training Pty Ltd or its agents.


ACCESS AND EQUITY

It is the commitment of Life International Training Pty Ltd that all trainees will be recruited in an ethical and responsible manner and consistent with the requirements of the curriculum or National Training Package. Our Access and Equity Policy ensures that trainee selection decisions comply with equal opportunity legislation. Appropriately qualified staff will assess the extent to which the trainee is likely to achieve the stated competency standards and outcomes of the course, based on their qualifications and experience.


SUPPORT SERVICES

Any trainee experiencing difficulty with any aspects of a course will be able to seek assistance from the trainer at any time. If support programs are required, Life International Training Pty Ltd will manage this service.

If you feel that you may have difficulty completing our training sessions due to language, literacy or numeracy issues, you are encouraged to contact Life International Training to arrange pre course LLN assessment.


CREDIT TRANSFER

Trainees completing certain modules of Life International Training Pty Ltd courses may be eligible for credits in other courses. For any assistance in this matter please contact your trainer or Life International Training Pty Ltd's office.


EXTERNAL REVIEW

Life International Training Pty Ltd has agreed to participate in external monitoring and audit processes required by the state training agency. This covers random quality audits, audit following complaint and audit for the purpose of re-registration.


MANAGEMENT & ADMINISTRATION

Life International Training Pty Ltd has policies and management strategies, which ensure sound financial and administrative practices. Management guarantees the organisation's sound financial position and safeguards trainees' fees until used for training/assessment. We have a Refund Policy, which is fair and equitable. Trainee records are managed securely and confidentially and are available for trainee perusal on request. Life International Training Pty Ltd has adequate insurance policies.


MARKETING & ADVERTISING

Life International Training Pty Ltd is committed to marketing our vocational education and training products with integrity, accuracy and professionalism, avoiding vague and ambiguous statements. In the provision of information, no false or misleading comparisons are drawn with any other training organisation or training product. Life International Training Pty Ltd complies with relevant sections of the Federal Privacy Act 1988 (as amended) and The Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act and Regulation 2000.


TRAINING & ASSESSMENT STANDARDS

Life International Training Pty Ltd has personnel with appropriate qualifications and experience to deliver the training and facilitate the assessment relevant to the training products offered. Assessment will meet the National Assessment Principles (including Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer). Adequate facilities, equipment and training materials will be utilised to ensure the learning environment is conducive to learning and the success of trainees.

To ensure this occurs Life International Training Pty Ltd has developed a learning and assessment strategy for each of the courses offered. The learning and assessment strategies are available on request.


INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Life International Training Pty Ltd is bound to the Education for Overseas Students (Registration of Providers Financial Regulations) Act 1991.


OUR GUARANTEE

Life International Training Pty Ltd will honour all guarantees outlined in this Code of Practice. We understand that if we do not meet the obligations of this Code or supporting regulatory requirements, we may have our registration as a Registered Training Organisation withdrawn.
